Conflict is a part of our life but is also a
source for learning. In this workshop, the concept of conflict
is viewed as a beginning to team-building and community
building. The workshop addresses the cost of avoiding conflict,
positive functions of conflict, source of conflict and the
differences between conflict resolution and conflict management.
In particular, the Thomas-Killman mode instrument is used to
help participants identify their personal repertoire of confict-handling
skills such as; competition, collaboration, compromise,
avoidance and accommodation.
Information and activities not only help
participants understand and use skills that are interconnected
and transferable to all students and teachers, but also provide
a bridge to integrate and connect conflict to community life.
Handouts provided.
This particular workshop, when combined with “Anger
Management: Coping with Conflict” or “Building Rapport with
Effective Communication Skills”, can extend to a full day
workshop.
