Assisted with resources
from BC Safe Schools in Abbotsford, this workshop follows Curwen
and Mendler’s intention. The workshop is designed to enhance
professional knowledge and skills through training and promote a
culture of dialogue that supports experimentation and reflection
on practice.
Content includes traditional discipline strategies; stopping
problems before they occur; meeting students' basic needs;
action and resolution; and, avoiding power struggles. Individual
handouts with pertinent content information are given to all
participants. Presentation methods include mini-lecture,
discussion, and networking. Various handouts are provided.
Activities
are small and large group, using a variety of discovery methods
to interpret new situations, to solve problems and to learn new
skills.
