“Courage is the price
that life exacts for granting peace”
Amelia Erhart
Part of being a global citizen and being an active member of
the global community means understanding the challenges facing the
world today. Many young people assume they lack the power and
resources to be part of proactive peace movement. Encouraging
youth to express their personal feelings about global issues is
the focus of this session.
Writing peace poetry is one small, but very effective way to
involve and empower students. (Think of the peace poems throughout
history during: world wars, civil wars, environment wars,
household disputes, and so on.)
Workshop activities address how educators can provide students
a practical path to become part of the peace movement … and it’s
only the beginning.
Empower your students! Empower yourself! Read, write, listen,
speak and feel how peace poetry affects our well-being.
Time – 1.5 hours
Handouts provided.
It is suggested that participants bring their favourite pen
and some lined paper or a notebook in which to write.
